At the end of the day

The first Bosphorus boat trip-dinner of the new academic year, mostly for new teachers who arrived earlier this week - and some of us to greet them - and oh my, what a welcome it was,  to watch Istanbul go by bathed in the warmth and light of a spectacular sunset as the day ended for the very first time in a world without Aretha Franklin. 

Of all the tributes, my vote goes to Obama. The grace of his words a most fitting epitaph for the "Queen of Soul". Sad day.
