Mainsgill Stone Circle
A long, as usual, journey to Edinburgh made slightly easier by the overnight stay in Peterborough and more pleasant by being uneventful for a change.
Lunch stop was at Mainsgill Farm Shop and cafe on the A66 near Scotch Corner where today’s blip of the Mainsgill Stone Circle was taken.
Swapped drivers at Stainmore Summit and the next thing I knew was waking up at the first roundabout at Penrith!
By the way, for those of you wondering why you’d never heard of the Mainsgill Stone Circle, don’t worry, you’ve not missed a Neolithic site. It’s a modern construction build from old stone gateposts. Mind you, the gateposts are probably very old.
