to Retire
This is the RNLI lifeboat Sir William Hillary leaving Douglas Harbour for the last time as she as she heads off to Wales where she will be decommissioned. After thirty three years in service she still looks very smart. You may remember that she attended after the Solway Harvester had foundered.
There must have been about fifty people on the quayside to see her off. It was quite poignant because Sir William himself who died in 1847 is buried at St. George's Church in Douglas just about a mile away.
