Aumbry
It was my birthday today. I had brekkie in bed, went swimming with my little boy, had a nap and then got dressed up. My mum had been asked to babysit and of course she obliged.
I'd been told to get dressed up as I was being taken out by my husband. I'd tried my best to find out where we were going but he only ever responded with 'Lazer Quest'.
I mean, there's nothing wrong with Lazer Quest but I grew out of running round in the dark with a pretend gun a while back (I think)! So I got dressed up in the hope we'd end up somewhere nice.
Well, as it happens, my husband had chosen a place I've been dying to go to fit quite done time. I love good, flavours and fine dining. We can't afford to do it often (once every year or so) so when we do, it is so special.
Aumbry in Prestwich has been on my wish list for some time so when we pulled up outside, I was filled with overwhelming glee. In fact. I cried. I was taken aback. My husband chose to take me to the finest restaurant in Manchester.
It was like a first date. Only better as we know each other and there were no nerves. I was as excited as I had been on our first date too!
Aumbry is an understated restaurant in north Manchester serving exquisite morsels. They focus on local food, good flavours and interesting combinations. We had a 6 course tasting menu.
The picture was course 3. The best. Loin of hare with English truffle, barley grass and hare consommé.
It was, without a doubt, the most divine thing I have ever tasted.
The other courses were exquisite and allowed my mouth to party! It was all utterly delicious.
I had the most wonderful evening. I'll never forget it. First time out as a couple since having Ted 4 months ago.
Thank you Ben.
I love you.
