Granny Squares
The hospital rang at lunchtime, they did not have a cancellation for today so my husband’s operation is scheduled for Monday 20 August, six days after the accident. We are to be in the Plastics Unit at Addenbrookes Hospital for 0730 hours, so I suspect he is first on the list and possible the only one at this point.
Today, as we had to wait in again for the telephone call I continued crocheting my Granny Squares together. Yesterday I watched “Jaydainstitches” on YouTube, she demonstrated three techniques. I preferred the single crochet join, which leaves a definite line between each square. The picture is just some of the twenty-eight squares, which are about thirty centimetres in size. Although they all consist of twelve rounds some are slightly smaller. This is because to begin with my tension was rather tight; it is still not perfect and there are mistakes, but I am happy with my first ever attempt. It seems it is called an Afghan if it is crocheted and a blanket if it is knitted.
