Stamping House No. 2

After extraction, ore-bearing rock was crushed in a stamping mill to separate the tin-rich mineral from the "gangue". The ore was hand-picked on a sorting floor, mostly by women and children, for smelting. There were six stamping mills and two furnaces at Eylesbarrow. The end wall of Stamping House 2 is best preserved. More on that tomorrow...
