Common Toadflax

(Linaria vulgaris) + some Cuckoo Pint photobombing the background! + a little beetly thing photobombing the toadflax.

Most of the wildflower toadflax - which is blooming everywhere at present - grows on tall stems. The stems of these in the photo were growing horizontal and turning up at the ends. Apparently this is called 'decumbent' - so, having learned a new word, I've put it in a ditty:

Some stems lie on the ground as if tired,
As if it might help were they wired.
Like a finger or thumb bent
These few are decumbent
But, nevertheless, they're admired.
Others grow straight and tall
By the side of the wall,
Just as if by its bricks they're inspired.

Thanks for all your kind words yesterday. My headache's gone now, but too late for this week's dancing. Ho hum!

Have a lovely weekend, blipmates. (Hope I stay migraine-free as we have family coming down for a long weekend!)

Thank you to Anni (BikerBear) for hosting Flower Friday.
