SILLY SATURDAY

We decided not to go to Jack’s this morning as we are going to a Summer Fête at the care home where our grandson’s Mother works later and figured that if we saved our money by not buying coffee, we could spend more over there!

I knew I wouldn’t be able to take any photographs of the residents, so decided that I would find something at home for Silly Saturday - and here are two Boxers, given to us by our Blip friend, Heidi, who visited us yesterday - and if you want to see what we did, have a look at her Blip for yesterday.

A couple of weeks ago, she visited a store called Flying Tiger which sells Danish gifts, and she text me to say she had bought both Mr. HCB and me a gift.  When we went to see her at the campsite in Cirencester, she gave us these.  Would you guess they were ballpoint pens?  We didn’t either!

The “blurb” on their website says:  “Flying Tiger Copenhagen is a global Danish design store. We don’t just sell stuff. We want to surprise you, inspire you and make you smile. We believe that human relationships and social experiences bring people joy. This is why our product lines encourage play, creativity and social interaction. So to us, it is not just a ball, it’s the ball game you play with your loved ones that counts.”

It surprised us, therefore, to read on the back of the little booklet for the “Boksende Kuglepen” or "Ballpoint Pen" for those not proficient in Danish, that they were made in China!  So is that silly enough for Silly Saturday?  I think so - and thank you, Heidi, for providing my Blip for today - and also for a great time with you yesterday - with lots of laughs, as usual, even though we shivered!

I have added an extra showing our Afternoon Tea in the garden in rather cooler weather, with the cucumber in the sandwiches grown by Mr. HCB’s fair hand, or should that be with his green fingers - but we wanted to use our new table and chairs and I even got out the best china in Heidi’s honour - it’s also fitting on Silly Saturday that the teapot doesn’t match!

“It is one of the blessings
     of old friends that
          you can afford to be
               stupid with them.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

P.S.  Thank you for all your kind comments yesterday - I am sorry I didn’t respond very much, but after making so much chutney - 9 jars in all - I was very tired and was in bed before 9.30 p.m.  In case you don’t know, there is a lot of chopping needed to make chutney!
