End of the road?

Today the Oban & Lorn Horticultural Society held what might be its last flower show in the Glencruitten Road Church Hall. The show was very well attended and the tables were filled with wonderful exhibits of flowers, fruit, vegetables, home baking, honey and crafts. My extra is of a fine trio of leeks.

So why might it be the last? Simply because it's proving impossible to get people to serve on the committee. One man has been a member for 43 years! The Taynuilt Flower Show was cancelled this year for the same reason - the first time for 81 years! Oban's Lorn Garden Club closed last year also for the same reason. 

Next Saturday is Benderloch's Flower Show - let's hope that they at least can keep going!
