The Ice Cream Boat
M and I took my Dad and Stepmother for a trip on the Norfolk Broads today, they are staying in Sheringham for a few days and wanted to visit the Broads. So, we booked a trip on one of the large day-tripper boats, which goes along the Rive Bure, calling in at a few Broads before turning round again, a two-hour trip with commentary. My Dad is 92 this year and has to use a stick now but he seemed to really enjoy his lunch and trip on the boat. Happily, it was dry so we were able to sit on the open top deck which gave us a splendid view of life on the water.
Being a Saturday in August, the Broads were very busy indeed, including a few stag parties who seemed to be having rather a good time, although their piloting skills left something to be desired, and that was early afternoon!
The ice-cream boat seemed to be trading well, we didn’t stop him to buy one, as the boat stocked our favourite ‘Ronaldo’s’ ice-cream, which we indulged in on the way back.
I have attached an extra of a heron in the boat yard who had found a handy perch on the end of one of the boats.
A grand day out. They are coming to us for Sunday lunch tomorrow, before they head off back home on Monday.
