Cliff Top View
Mixed sun and cloud and warm.
We dropped the guys off at Scarborough Cricket Club this morning - Yorkshire v Worcestershire.
ValC and I set off and parked up in Cloughton and walked via the Cleveland Way to Hayburn Wyke and returned along the Cinder track - 5 miles in all.
A slightly challenging walk with steep drops down on old footpaths worn by years of wear from treads taken by traders and smugglers moving their wares and back up again, eventually to Hayburn Wyke waterfall. On the way down we did wonder if there would be any water flowing. However, nearing the Falls there was a trickle and the Falls, whilst not spectacular were flowing. See extra. Here we stopped for lunch - families searching amongst the rock pools. The weather better than forecast.
A climb back up, through farmers fields passing in front of the Hayburn Wyke Inn and along the gentler path of the Cinder path back to the car. On the way we passed apple trees and came upon a tree laden with them. Of course we had to collect two bags full - pies to be made. That's what the empty lunch bags are for!
Other extras include a crop 'cat' in the fields plus a Painted Lady Butterfly, so good to see so many of them. We also saw of course, blackberries, sloes berries and ripe haws.
All in all a very enjoyable walk in great company.
