A Pressing Matter

Pretty full day. Up first thing to do some work work (I'd taken the laptop home to do so, so thought I'd better), breakfast, then off to the Brewstore for some stuff needed to bottle the latest homebrew and a few cider items.

It was a nice day working with Mel on things. We bottled the beer together; and then after a quick lunch, set about yesterday's apples. Mel started washing and cutting the apples while I built a shonky, homemade fruit press with some old timber, a new cheap plastic box, and a car jack. And... it all worked. By the end we were into a pretty good groove - Mel cleaning and cutting; me bashing the cut apples with a ruddy big bit of wood in a bucket, and occasionally turning up the pressure on the jack, as we got through the harvest in batches.

Didn't actually use all of the apples, but we've got 8 litres now fermenting away. All felt rather satisfying, and the glass of red with dinner was well deserved, especially as there was more work work done before dinner, and will be more tonight. Busy busy.
