Who nose

It's fascinating watching parents of young children exhibit patience. Often patience would not be one of the predominant characteristics pre-birth of their child. For sanity it becomes a necessity. Just as Katie and I set off towards London, where another work pal Lizzie was hosting a big BBQ in her garden, a nosebleed occurred. After ascertaining that it had been picked to the point of bleeding Katie had to clean up and express thanks for informing her that it had happened, instead of chastising or expressing annoyance. I think this was Parenting 101 in action and definitely led to a swifter resolution of the situation than triggering a meltdown would have. Whilst not envious in any way, I am hugely in awe of friends who soldier on through child rearing. It seems to bring extremes of frustration, deep love, humour and tidying. All in the space of about five minutes. Repeatedly. For at least 18 years per child.

In a leafy part of London we had the most indulgent afternoon in Lizzie's back garden, eating sausages, trimmings and multiple desserts. The aftermath of used barbecues and dented bean bags is shown.
