Last full day
Made a dessert for tonight’s dinner then we set off downtown....through Chinatown and Little Italy to see a market that turned out to be a bit of a waste of time but great to see the Chinese dragon teams rehearsing in a park and all the fresh seafood shops. Met up with Twyla for brunch in a vegetarian place and chatted about family, books, travel, career choices and living in NYC. Walked up to Union Sq afterwards and explored the farmers market again...new stalls and fabulous produce.
Up to Columbus Circle and K got som little espresso cups then walked across Central Park by the lake to the Guggenheim museum. Love that building...inside and out....and there was a very striking Giacometti exhibition on which we enjoyed.
Even better - Italian ice cream stall outside so we sat on a bench and watched the enormous queue snake along (we’d been lucky with borrowed members passes!)
Bus up to Harlem and then crossed to the subway-walked passed the Apollo Theater tribute to Aretha Franklin (extra).
Home just before the rain started and a quick change then down to L’s for dinner with several of her friends. She made a ‘shrimp boil’ (extra) which was delicious and we had lively debate about the political mess that USA is in at the moment and what might happen next, Brexit, acting, culture and NYC living
Lovely last day
