Winnowing Machines - The start of grain automation - The corn was fed in from the top and the handle at the side turned. A fan blows air across the falling grain , blowing the lighter chaff from the crop. Sieves of different sizes filtered out more of the dust and chaff ready for the clean corn to be channelled out the back, ready to store.
