Uisge Beatha

Uisge Beatha: Scots Gaelic for aqua vitae, 'water of life', from the first part of which the word 'whisky' derives.

A long awaited weekend away. Took to the road straight after school with the car packed with food and drink, bikes on the back.

As usual, the trip took longer than it should due to obligatory stops at Tisos for comfort breaks and map buying and generally lusting over expensive outdoor clothing and equipment followed by the next scheduled comfort break at House of Bruar and buying totally unnecessary foodstuffs....

Arrived at our very comfortable and spacious "cottage" in the dark.

Dalwhinnie Distillery is just along the road so today's Blip is a very lazy one from the front garden....

Apparently Dalwhinnie Distillery is the highest or one of the highest distilleries in Scotland (depending on your source of information) - 1074 feet above sea level.

Sometimes I wish I liked whisky - it seems very interesting and distilleries are often very beautiful in their own right....
