For a long time I have tried to define what I best like to do in photography. "Pictorialism" is a discipline of photography ("creating" images rather than merely "recording" them) which was popular toward the end of the nineteenth century, when photographic art went in search of its purpose.
I recognise that navel gazing in this way is appallingly self indulgent but I find that I feel most comfortable as a kind of "neo pictorialist" .... hopefully one that doesn't take himself too seriously. :o)
