Gone with the wind

My heart sank today when I went to school and saw this. 'This' is no 100 year old copper beech tree and no red horse chestnut.
After a tree came down in the storms early this year they did a tree survey and this was the result. Such a shame, both trees were listed...., but safety first, especially in a school.
They have left the main trunk of the beech which is to be carved into something appropriate which is of some comfort.
