Iona
Terry and i drove off for an afternoons exploration....first stop, the Hearing Choker for lunch, which was wonderful. two other friends happened to drop by so we had a lovely visit. Then we crossed the very small ferry at Little Narrows and into the community of Iona. It is such a lovely drive with the most amazing views. We stopped at Gillis beach where we often take a short walk, it is a small, mostly uninhabited beach where it was actually pretty windy.
Continued to drive all the way around, and i had remembered doing this many years ago and taking a photo of these gypsum rocks...which ended up being my very first pastel attempt! This time (about 7 years later) we found this little church. After some silly banter about how tiny the people of this community must be.....i decided that perhaps it was a loving memorial by a family member to someone who had died! It was kinda strange!
We found another uninhabited beach and set up our chairs and had a glass of wine etc., then home to make dinner.
Nice day for sure, but my back and legs weren't very happy after so much time in the car and some difficult walks on the beach! Only 2 more days till surgery!
