Painted lady - TT169
on Field fleawort, Senecio integrifolius
Today was an unexpectedly beautiful day. I had a long walk, south down the river valley and then turned off through woodland I haven't walked before and into one of those odd clearings that let in the sun only because for some unknown reason the trees have died. I did blip their bones, but in and out of thick swatches of fleawort and water mint suddenly there was this painted lady. The first I've seen this year. It looked huge compared to other 2018 species, which have all seemed unusually small. This beauty migrates from North Africa.
After which I decided I was thirsty and tired so cut though to the road and caught a bus home from Otterbourne.
Oh and got annoyed because the hinge of my sunglasses snapped :(
Anyway, I'm tagging this for TinyTuesday. Many thanks to osuzanna for hosting. And enjoy your evening, all xx
