Common blues and a hoverfly
While having a short break today I noticed the tiny common blue butterflies fly past and land amongst the clover (I'm not sure what the yellow flowers are). These really are very tiny and I have included the tiny hoverfly for comparison. The female common blue is very worn, and as she has lost most of her upper body markings the only way to differentiate her from the brown argus is by the absence of a couple of spots on her under wing. It looks like these two have had a tough summer.
As they are small I have tagged them for TinyTuesday, with thanks to osuzanna for hosting.
