Tiny Tuesday : : Hands

This isn't a macro, in fact I took it with my phone.   OilMan suggested a trip to Sebastopol for a variety of things that we could get here in Santa Rosa, but it's much more fun to go to Sebastopol. I keep a camera in my car, but OilMan wanted to buy bags of dirt so I suggested his car, already full of grass from his golf bag, golf clubs, Ozzie's blanket, towels and sticks that have probably been in there since last summer, old shoes, candy wrappers (GummiBears) and forgotten sweat shirts and baseball caps. But no camera.

After the farm supply store where we acquired some irrigation parts, pea, kale and broccoli rabe plants and four big bags of dirt, we went into Graton for one of the best lunches ever. Downtown Graton is one short block long and consists of three restaurants, an antique store and a nice art gallery. The buildings look charmingly old but were actually all built at the same time about 20 years by a developer.

The Willowood Cafe makes delicious polenta which sounded appealing because the weather, at least for today has turned decidedly autumnal and cool cold.In the end, neither of us had polenta.OilMan had a beautifully delicate fish stew, really more of a light  soup, and I had a Mediterranean plate. Everything including lashings of pesto, hummus and caponata was home grown and home made. We loved the retro label on the Lagunitas Sumpin' Easy* beer, a lighter version of Lagunitas Little Sumpin', one of OilMan's favorites....After tasting OilMan's beer, I decided, uncharacteristically, to order one for myself...On the way back from the men's room OilMan couldn't resist the finger puppet hands on the shelf full of English teapots, retro lunch boxes, harmonicas and old toys.

While we ate,  a woman sitting with her friend at the next table got up and said something to a couple at another table. Exclamations of surprise and and restrained enthusiasm ensued, they chatted for a minute or two, introductions of partners and friends were made and then everybody returned to their respective tables. The man and his partner left soon after and one of the two women told her friend that she had done business through emails but never met the man in person. Apparently when he put his hat on she recognized the logo on it and went over to speak to him.

When the two women asked for their bill the waiter told them that it had already been paid....I wonder what they emailed each other about?

Our 'date' ended with a trip to Sebastopol Hardware. I used to have a rule that I didn't wan't any gift that had a cord or came from a hardware store, but I would make an exception for Sebastopol Hardware. No gifts today though.  We got a big bin for our 'Go Bag' supplies and several flashlights in case we have to evacuate for a fire. We haven't worked up much enthusiasm for filling it, or even making a list, but acquiring It all made a nice change from chasing irrigation leaks and ground squirrels....
