Rundāle Palace

This glorious palace is about 60km from Rīga and we spent a fascinating and relaxing day, driving through the countryside to visit.

Our wonderful guide sang to us. She has a beautiful (and I suspect trained) voice and she brought to life the Latvian tradition of folk song.

We had a brief stop at Bauska Castle and returned to Rīga in time for more sightseeing if we wanted.

I went into the peace and quiet of the Orthodox Cathedral.

On to Tallinn, in Estonia, tomorrow.
