Lizzie's Crystal Palace

This little beauty is our pride and joy. We finished it today and there's barely a strut or a horizontal that hasn't been inserted, screwed in, unscrewed, removed, turned round, replaced, re-replaced, pushed, punched and pulled. It was VERY complicated and the minimal instructions and drawings didn't give us too many clues, in fact they sent us up many a blind alley and on many a wild goose chase. L ordered it back in June and it finally turned up in September complete with 150 kilos of broken glass. In October the new glass arrived and today we inserted the last 6 panes.

1. We are not decapitated. Hooray!
2. We're still friends. Hooray!
3. The greenhouse has a wonderful world-wide-web thing going on of struts and braces which make us feel like real-life structural engineers. Yayyyy!
4. It looks really rather cool.
5. Despite completely losing patience one day and just whacking in the base with a mallet, the greenhouse, unbelievably, ended up level and right-angled and it all fitted.

Roll on seedlings, roll on new garden, roll on L's smiling face as she realises she has her own real-life mini Eden Project.
