Coffee Stop Rock
Yesterday I mentioned the concept of a "coffee stop" rock. Today's picture shows the view from one of these rocks.
The idea started when a large portion of the forest behind our house was felled. Suddenly we had views to the horizon where previously we saw only the nearest trees. So we started making a mug of coffee and walking up to the nearest of these view points. The distance had to be short enough that the coffee didn't go cold, and the going easy enough that coffee didn't spill out of the mug. Later we extended the distance possible and allowed for a little more difficult terrain by using slightly insulated "keep cups" with clip on lids.
Of course we could use a thermos flask and go as far as we like but part of the charm of the "coffee stop" idea was that we aren't going for a walk, we are just going outside to drink our coffee, and want a view.
This particular spot is the furthest one from home; a kilometer, or 15 minutes away from our front door, almost a walk...
The idea is easily adapted to other locations and I now have "coffee spots" in London and Woodbridge, used when I'm visiting my sisters. I'm adaptable and can substitute a bench for a rock!
So think about it. Is there a place near you where you could sit and drink a coffee you fetched from home? A park; a river bank; a square; a wood... Instead of sitting inside drinking your coffee (tea is also OK) take it out and watch the world go by as you sip your drink.
