Guildford Cathedral
It's been quite a long day, so trying to finish my blip and get to bed soon.
We have a few busy days coming up, so the morning began with getting the Lodge ready for the next few days. G decided to prepare a lasagne just in case our friends who we were meeting up with later in the afternoon would like to have dinner here. I got on with cleaning (eye roll) and ironing. Mmmm.
We finally left home around 2pm to drive to Hindhead to collect our friends Ian and Barbara. Barbara had got in touch with G earlier in the week and organised a day for us to take them out. We decided it would be good to show them Guildford so Barbara could drive down to do her shopping, or just for a special occasion.
We headed straight to the Cathedral and because of the lateness of the afternoon, had a cup of tea in the coffee shop before visiting the Cathedral. The coffee shop could do with longer operating hours and some general customer service training. The Cathedral was super as ever and the visit was more special because of the art exhibition based on the Book of Revelation. One of the hardest books to tackle or understand, the artist has done an incredible job of putting it into pictures with her use of colour and materials. Had the shop been open, I would have bought a book about it.
Onwards and upwards, we got back in the car and headed to - the Lodge(!) via Shamley Green so we could drive through Wonersh and point out the church we go to whilst here. I discovered today that Ian's title today was "The Venerable ..." being a retired Archdeacon. He's been diagnosed recently with Parkinson's so it took slightly longer to get in and out of the car and to places.
He's a fighter though and did amazingly well getting into the Lodge and having a walk around. Geraldine's lasagna was a great idea as they stayed for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon/evening out of their sheltered housing. I'm so glad they got moved closer to us as it used to take nearly three hours to drive to Nottingham to see them for the day.
