Quietly, under cover of the cloak of time and progress, Amble, poor but honest little fishing village in the north east of England has had a bit of a makeover.

As the fisher folk move out the developers move in, and we, the tourists follow, thus the DNA of the town mutates to develop a new identity.

Sunday morning Amble market is a case in point, once seafood stalls and table top bric a brac was the order of the day, now it is small boutique shops and big hog roasts...

it'll be vegetarianism and votes for women soon enough.
