Couching - back to Bayeux

Those embroiderers of old knew what they were doing. Upon re-tensioning the work tonight for couching tonight the slight ripple I had noticed became more obvious. I had tried zig zagging the couching thread between the two rows as I went down in my experiment regarding the stitch on the back of the linen pattern) but it is obvious now why that isn't the way, it causes the ripple to develop. I picked out yesterday's couching and went back to Bayeux stitch which is more fiddly to keep the distance between the couching stitches the same but doesn't cause that tension snag. I also thinned out the basic threads in a couple of areas where the wool threads had a natural variation in them and were just slightly more puffy.
