Splashing Sparrows

A swoop of sparrows arrive in the pond.
Some perch in honeysuckle, just beyond,
then drop to join the throng.

A feathery splash then, suddenly bored,
they rise to the trees of one accord,
simply for seconds, then back to the pond.

Repeating this pattern of wet and dry,
quickly refreshed, the birds all fly.
