First world problem?

We've had a major building project going on since the end of May. This week has been a crunch week as the builders have been taking down the back wall of the house and putting in a massive steel girder to hold it all up. In the process our formerly very comfortable kitchen has been reduced to this; a sink, hot and cold water and a washing machine. A first-world problem, I know, but it's only when these things start to get taken away that you realise how much we rely on them being (literally) on tap.
It is interesting to see the excavation of the inner workings of the house; I've never given much thought to where the pipes and wires run. Now I know, and it's oddly comforting to know how well the house was built in the first place.
It will be worth all the disruption when it is finished. I think.
