Bon Festival in Japan
In August, Bon dance festivals are held in many shrines or temples in Japan. The word of Bon means the period in summer when the soul of ancestors come back to their family. To welcome and console their sprits, people gather and enjoy Bon dances.
In the end of August, there is an another event of Jizo BON in Japan. Jizo is a folklore diety for travellers and children.
Jizobon is a big event for children, because that they can get many candies like a trick or treat in western countries, and enjoy some games as gold fish scooping or lottery after getting the permission from their mothers.
Yako, 5 year old my grand daughter remembers this event and is looking forward to join it held in the shrine at night. But Eishi, one year old can't enjoy the games. Yako overwhelmingly filled with joy and excitement. But Eishi was thrown into confusion in such an extraordinary night. He only looked at the people enjoying dance with the Japanese traditional music, standing with cotton kimono and holding a fan in his hand.
