AMAZING DAY

today was awesome! Absolutely brilliant. First thing this morning I managed to get a promming ticket for the west side story prom. I then managed to get Katie one over the phone so that we could go this afternoon!!

But first, we had a fantastic time at the V&A. It’s one of my favourite London hideouts. Katie and I explored a couple of areas we haven’t seen before. Then she charged in the water for absolutely ages. She had no spares, so while her play suit dried a bit, she went back in her pants!

We then enjoyed lunch from a lovely sandwich shop hiding away from the Albert Hall. The next stop of the day was a BBC proms team workshop about West Side Story. The workshop was a fantastic introduction to the music for Katie. And as a surprise we got to meet Leonard Bernstein’s son, who talked about his father and his work.

It was then time to join the queuing! Katie was great; we bagged a spot only 4 rows from the front. I had to hold her most of the time so she could see the acting but boy was it phenomenal. Being in the arena for the first time AND the performance. A very special day that wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for Katie getting us both into music.
