Royal Bank of Scotland - the former HQ behind me was once the heart of a trusted institution, now essentially a London operation, and its name infamous around the globe.
Hopetoun, 4th Earl: military hero, politician, governor of the RBS
Dundas: lawyer turned politician, Minister for War, First Lord of the Admiralty, Keeper of the Scottish Signet, possible embezzler (impeached but acquitted)
Church of St Andrew and St George : displaced from its intended site by the building of a mansion by Dundas' cousin. Named to reflect the Union. The kirk an institution at the heart of the Scottish establishment.

And a saltire or two, fluttering above it all.
