Harry Cooper
This is my uncle who died on Friday aged 98 after a short illness but a long and happy life. My mum's much loved brother, he took his family to New Zealand from West Wickham in Kent in the 1960s. Then he and wife Marjorie who died a few years ago followed daughter Sue to Queensland Australia, where I and Sarah were lucky enough to see him, as recently as January 2017 when he was in good health and indefatigable - this picture retaken from a photo on a trip down the river in Brisbane when he lasted all day on his feet without a murmur. A gentle kind and creative man, he had a deep faith and irrepressible curiosity about the world we inhabit to the very last, which above all seems to be one of the secrets of a long and rewarding life.
His daughter and my cousin Sue is coming to the UK next month and will no doubt feature on this blip.
( I don't know if I'm allowed to take photos of photos as blips, but so be it)
