Flash Flood Alert
Today we got wet. Drenched! We managed a stroll to see the Linn Cove Viaduct- which was cleverly wrapped around the mountain to preserve the land, and the sun tried to come through for our short hike to the Linville Falls, but half way there the heavens opened. Within minutes it was too late to do anything but embrace the rain, and we made it to the first viewing platform, danced around for a bit, then back to the car for towels and dry clothes - the benefit of being road trippers!!! The rains continued off and on, and the mountains were cloaked in mist, so we only made it as far as Little Switzerland before opting for the interstate. We did have a good lunch there in the sunshine, although our phones kept bleeping flood warnings. We reached Asheville early evening and found an outlet mall so Joe could buy some new (dry) trainers! Doug and I got some new Skechers too. Then we lazily opted to have pizza delivered to the hotel room and so to bed.
