Tre'r Ceiri Hillfort

A windy rainy day confirmed that staying low(ish) was a good idea.

The local council of the Llyn Peninsula have gone to a lot of effort to advertise and sign 15 circular walks of varying lengths around the whole peninsula.

Our chosen campsite happened to be at the start of a 13km figure of 8 the dropped down to Nant Gwrtheyrn, and also up to Yr Eifl and Tre'r Ceiri Hillfort. A fascinating route with lots of variety (and climb).

Tre'r Ceiri Hillfort is one of the most spectacular ancient monuments in Wales. The settlement is surrounded by stone walls that are largely intact, and which reach up to 4 metres (13 ft) in some places. Within the walls are ruins of about 150 stone houses, which would have had turf roofs. During Roman times, it may have housed up to 400 people (Wikipedia).
