The Bell

The Bell Inn, in Finedon, is the oldest pub in the county.  It was built in 1598 on a site that had a coaching inn recorded on the same site in 1042.  It is thought to be built on land owned by Queen Edith, wife of Edward the Confessor and her statue adorns the front of the building.  The current landlord, Dennis Wilmott has been there for 49 years and is believed to be the longest serving landlord in the county.  I'm reliably informed that a local Parish Priest, ex-pop star, TV and Radio personality (Rev. Richard Coles)
pops in occasionally.
Thank you for all your recent kind comments and stars.
We are heading south for a long weekend .. .. ..
