First day back at work. Forgotten how.

I've been asked to comment on someone's academic paper and have remembered how much I loathe the excluding pomposity of academic verbiage. My brain slithers off the Latinate words every half-sentence. A long time ago I wrote a dissertation in plain English. I had a hell of a battle over it with the university and had to justify it in my introduction but I won. It's dismal that over 30 years on the gatekeepers are still sanctimoanifying from inside their elephantine towers.
