Copperas Hill

Liverpool John Moores purchased the building from the Post Office and it is now, at least for the duration of the Liverpool Biennial, a huge art gallery. What is most interesting is the fact that it is exactly as it was the day everyone left, all the signs, machines and hardware is preserved at least for the present in aspic.

The only problem for me is that this massive fascinating building completely pummels the art within to the ground. It is rendered small and fairly meaningless within this gargantuan space.

In a complete change of ambience we went to see some more of the biennial in the rather more opulent surroundings of the Cunard building. Two very big rooms (and side rooms) were given over to it and there was some very interesting pieces in here.

The Copperas Hill building has unsurprisingly ended up the subject for today. The light streaming in to the length of this building somewhat beguiled me. It is once more better viewed at a larger size.
