WildWednesday: GettingReady
We don't have 'Severe' winters compared to lots of other places but it does get cold here. The squirrels strip the palm fiber from the native Sabal Palms and use it to line their nests for the winter. I often see them doing this but this time I had my camera in hand! It doesn't seem to hurt the palms one bit. And I've only seen females doing this. I wonder if the squirrels starting this activity kind of 'early' is an indication that we should expect a colder than usual winter. Hmmm Check the *extras for a couple of other shots of this industrious squirrel.
