Alhambra

Big trip today up into the mountains to see the Alhambra Palace complex.  Some ticket shenanigans overcome, we finally found lunch in the very delightful hotel restaurant that Lesley booked.  

The day was mercifully cool (indeed, some thunder and spots of rain later) so wandering about was no hardship at all.  I've been wanting to visit for a very long time but - despite all the photos I've seen over the years - it was not at all what I expected.  

I did enjoy the contrast between the style of the Moorish Palace and Charles V's Palace.  And the gardens were fab.  We all decided we could happily adapt to palace life, were it to become our home.

Home later to join our hosts (who'd skipped the garden bit in favour of an early trip home to enjoy their own pool) for a big chicken dinner, final games and some farewelling.
