Crocus longiflorus

After a dull start it turned wet but later the brighter weather promised for tomorrow arrived. Not enough sun to open the flowers but a spell in the warm kitchen did the trick :)

Crocus longiflorus hails from Italy and Malta. Unlike the more commonly grown Crocus speciosus it flowers with its leaves. It is hardy in the garden here although the strong, sweet scent is best appreciated when they are grown under cover.
