Lichen

Yesterday, as I was on my last walk thinking about grabbing a blip, I noticed a cherry tree in someone’s garden. The roots were massive and it’s always had full blossom standing against some heavy storms without faltering

I was gutted today to find nothing more than a pile of sawdust left where it stood

Trees give so much, it was probably planted when the estate was built in the early 60s, shielding traffic noise and air pollution.

As a source of insects and space for wildlife it’s a tragic loss. 60 years of growth gone in half an hour
For what?
