Castell Coch

I've always wanted to visit this idiosyncratic small castle near Cardiff but somehow never had the time while passing by on the M4. Today we made a special visit and enjoyed its weirdly appealing bad taste. We learned that the architect, Wiiliam Burges, tried faithfully to recreate the exterior structure of the medieval castle that had stood on the site, however for the interior he and his patron the Marquis of Bute just indulged in a Victorian fairytale-medieval fantasy. It's not great art but it's a lot of fun.
