Carbolic soap

Another plodding day, with a late start and late finish.

I had to run an errand to probably the best shop in Kirkwall and inevitably ended up buying a couple of items for myself, including fig jam, (medicinal), red tulips (to lift the spirits) and a reduced pack of chocolate lined little pastry cases,,(a bargain not to be missed).

I was drawn to the display of carbolic soap because the smell reminded me of my grandmother. So I added a bar of bright pink soap to my armful of shopping. (I didn't take a basket because I wasn't going to get much.....)

After 50 miles in the car with said pink soap I'm feeling a little less fond of it and it occurs to me the smell will be a good deal stronger when my cold gets better....
