Iona Abbey from the Iona Ferry
A day of three halves. The first half was a walk almost to Hell, but we gave up tantalisingly close to the beach that was supposed to be our destination. The closer we edged to the sea the boggier the ground became until I fell in and measured my length, lost my hat and had my specs pulled off my face. We turned around at that point, having used up an hour tramping across moorland to get to that sea and another sodden hour or so getting back to the car.
The second half was much better, back to Iona for the third time, mainly to peruse the gift shops of which there are a goodly selection. The weather was glorious, the sea so blue, it was a grand end to the week. We read that people must come to Iona three times, well, we’ve done that this time.
The third half was a meal at the Ninth Wave, a local restaurant very close to where we are staying. An excellent meal of many courses that rounded off the week very well.
Today’s blip is from the ferry as we made our way across the Iona Sound, with the Abbey and the highest point on Iona, Dun I, in the background. Will you just look at the colour of the sea.
Weather Final Score: Rain 2 - 4 Sunshine, Today was simply superb although by the time we came out of the restaurant tonight it was raining!
