MrsCyclops computer is sick. Dell has sent a new hard drive for it, which I have fitted and cloned the old disk onto.

Because the old disk is faulty, the cloned copy works OK but has some filesystem errors. If I leave those errors they are a bit of a disaster waiting to happen in the future. However, if I fix the filesystem errors it stops working!

So I need to either fix the clone so it's clean - which is what I'm trying to do just now - or I have a choice of less desirable options. One is a clean install to the new disk, which will be a fair bit of hassle. The other is to redo the clone, and just hope that the errors in it turn out not to be important.

Ahh, what fun.
