If it's autumn it must be rugby...
I was feeling absolutely shattered when I woke up this morning - that's because very late last night I decided to take Thomas to A&E and consequently it was a very late night. A few days ago, in fact since my birthday dinner, Thomas has been complaining about pain in his abdominal area. At about 11pm last night, just as I was starting to fall asleep in front of the TV and was about to go upstairs to get ready for bed, Thomas came in complaining about being in a lot of pain - when he started lying on the floor writhing in pain I thought a trip to A&E was a good idea.
Friday night at A&E can be a very slow process, with a busy waiting room full of drunks who have done stupid things - but as I was checking him in the receptionist told me that because he was still 17 years old he had to go to the paediatric department, which by sheer luck was completely empty. He saw a doctor fairly quickly and after testing appendix, kidneys, spleen and prodding and asking many questions they could not find anything wrong and so we went home again. Still, its best to check these things out...we think it may be something muscular, complicated by referred pain...who knows.
This morning Thomas was due to play in a pre-season rugby tournament and he was not sure whether to play or not. He was feeling okay so he decided to attend. He felt fine and actually enjoyed playing - they played 3 matches (of only 25 minutes long) and their team won all their matches, which is a very good start to the season. This is a photo of Thomas' friend with his brother running behind him, both boys being in the same team.
It was gloriously sunny and warm all day, what a terrific start to autumn.
Just to clarify - Murdoch is at home and did not go up north to visit his girlfriend...my poor grammar was a bit confusing yesterday!!
