Saturday: The Wild Night
There was always going to be one wild night during our visit and tonight was the night.
We began the day with a peaceful walk around Mirogoj cemetery, always one of our favourite places in Zagreb (photos in extra).
Then later in the afternoon it was off to Dunja and Danko's for the kind of crazy evening that we used to have there in the past. To be fair, it never starts off that way but we know from experience that they always end up the same way - lots of loud singing of Croatian songs from various eras and lots of declarations of mutual love and affection while holding each other tightly.
This was in the kitchen in the wee hours - from left to right, Danko, Dunja, Tomislav, Gabi and Zlatko. Many years ago, when we made friends with this group, and started spending time with them, someone commented that we were always the first to leave so we vowed then that we would never do that again so as to not have the reputation of being British and staid......we held to that tonight. T and Z left at 0230 in the morning and we hysterically ran out on their heels. Bearing in mind we got there at 4.30pm I think that was a respectable showing.....
