Come into my Parlour

Country air today.

The hedgerows are full of all sorts of berries, and my intention for the day’s blip was a montage of some of them. That is now an extra.

Half way through out circular walk at Acton Bridge we came across the “Daniel Adamson” (second extra). Built in 1903, first used as a Tug-Tender on the Mersey, then transferred to the Manchester Ship Canal before ending up in a scrapyard in the 1980’s, it has been rescued by enthusiasts and the Heritage Lottery fund. It still needs a lot of voluntary support, and cash. At £400 a ton, it is not cheap trying to run a steamship in 2018, which is why the volunteers were having an open day. We had a good look around, and toasted crumpets with a cuppa.

But my blip was taken at the end of our walk whilst having a cup of tea and a piece of fruitcake at our favourite plant nursery. An arms length away, in a vine ( complete with bunches of grapes, slightly weird in the north west of England) an orb spider was having its fruit cake. And eating it.
